Mid-Peninsula Conference releases All-Conference selections
ESCANABA — The Ishpeming Westwood boys captured the Mid-Peninsula Conference basketball title this season which was reflected in balloting during the annual meeting of the league’s coaches Wednesday.
Westwood senior guard Ethan Marta earned Player of the Year honors with Patriots’ senior guard A.J. Pizziola selected Defensive Player of the Year.
The Patriots again were guided by Luke Gray, the M-PC Coach of the Year.
Gladstone junior guard Lonnie Davey and sophomore guard Alex Prins became first-team selections. They were joined by Iron Mountain junior guard Brayden Kassin, Negaunee senior forward Tristan Slater and Westwood senior forward Caden Balzarini.
Second-team picks include Ishpeming senior center John Wheeler and senior guard Grady Gauthier, Westwood senior guard Jacob Ridl, Gladstone sophomore forward Will Inghram and Negaunee senior guard Easton Guenette.
Prins, Wheeler, Kassin and Ridl were also named to the All-Defensive team. Joining them was Westwood senior forward Louis Salmi.
Honorable mention recipients are Gwinn senior forward Nate Carter, Iron Mountain junior center Charles Baldridge, Manistique junior center Connor Tennyson, Negaunee senior center Ethan Gauthier and Pizzola.
