GNC All-Conference teams released

ESCANABA — To nobody’s surprise Gladstone senior forward Lillie Johnson earned Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the Great Northern Conference in the annual basketball meeting of the league’s coaches Wednesday.

Gladstone’s Andy Cretens was named Coach of the Year.

The Braves earned the GNC title by posting an 8-0 record and Kingsford’s jayvees took top honors in the conference at 6-1.

First-team selections include Kingsford sophomore Aubrie Moore and junior Alyvia Kowalski,, Gladstone junior Eva Pankonien, Menominee senior Lexi Marineau and Marquette freshman Avery Osborne.

Those receiving second-team honors are Kingsford senior Cassie Olson, Marquette senior Lexi Curran and junior Addi Kramer, Menominee senior Gianna Coduti and freshman Reese Linsmeier.

Gladstone senior Addy Blowers and Escanaba senior Landry Bray received special mention.

Blowers, Olson, Kowalski and Curran also landed spots on the Defensive Team. Joining them is Menominee senior Richele Milostan.

Those gaining honorable mention include Kingsford sophomore Avery Edwards, Gladstone senior Adele Ostlund and sophomore Malia Quigley, Marquette seniors Hayley Taylor and Kylie Smith, Menominee seniors Ella Barker and Ryann Milostan and Esky senior Susie Moberg.
