Feb. 8, 1961 — Bob Debelak poured a school-record 54 points as the Trenary Comets posted an 89-64 basketball victory over the Grand Marais Polar Bears. Roy Aho added 14 and Ed Lauila finished with 11.
Bill Micheau scored 26 points, leading the Rapid River Rockets past the Bark River-Harris Broncos 90-61. Dwight Harwood pumped in 16. Sam Boyer tallied 15 and Dwayne Johnson had 11. Jerry Sundquist paced the Broncos with 21.
Feb. 9, 1961 — John Fassbender hit four goals and Ed Jacques scored a hat trick as the Marquette Flyers skated to a 10-3 hockey triumph over the Gladstone Indians. Wayne Olson, Fran Bovin and Walter Clausen had a goal apiece for Gladstone.
Feb. 11, 1961 — Irwin Scholtz scored 44 points, leading the Hermansville Redskins to a 78-63 basketball triumph over the Alpha Mastadons. Gary Rochon added a season-high 20.
John Olson tossed in 14 points, leading the Escanaba Eskymos to a 62-50 victory over the Manistique Emeralds. Tom Butler hit 13. John Fisher scored 11 and Dennis Wilbee finished with 10. Jack Armstrong paced the Emeralds with 16. Bill DeRousha tallied 14 and Phil Carlson chipped in with 12.
Feb. 9, 1966 — Bruce Swagart scored 25 points and Phil Hartman added 21, leading the Cooks Clippers in a 93-62 conquest of Bark River-Harris. Joe Carley grabbed 18 rebounds and Jim Hooker scored 26 points for the Broncos.
Kim Peterson hit 22 points, leading the Trenary Comets in a 68-47 upset victory over the Rock Little Giants. Larry Lippens paced the Little Giants with 11.
Feb. 12, 1966 — Jon Cameron collected 25 points and 13 rebounds as the Manistique Emeralds upset the Escanaba Eskymos 77-56. Tom Brawley added 18 points. Dave Barton hit 12 and Ron Asp had 10. Paul Miller and Jim Boyle tallied 18 points each for the Eskymos, who had won eight straight, and Rick Kuchenberg finished with 16.
Dick Anderson scored 21 points as the Gladstone Braves defeated Marquette 79-66. Mark Goodman tallied 18 points. Lynn LaPlant tossed in 17 points. Russ Sargent contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds and Steve Nelson collected 11 boards.
Feb. 8, 1971 — The Holy Name Crusaders remained undefeated by posting a 69-47 victory over the Menominee Maroons. Tom Ness led the way with 14 points. Joe Joran added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Bill Skradski contributed 11 points and Gary Kleiman grabbed 14 boards.
A strong second half helped Gladstone break away for a 91-72 triumph over Marquette. Wayne Marshall led the Braves with 27 points. Bob Prins and Jerry Erickson hit 19 apiece and Jeff Boyer finished with 12.
The Manistique Emeralds scored four in double digits in a 78-66 conquest of Rudyard. Jerry Sample led with 25 points. Dave Mickelson added 18. Bob Harrison contributed 12 and Terry Demars chipped in with 11.
Feb. 9, 1971 — Gary Provo scored six times, leading the Escanaba Hawks to an 11-8 hockey victory over the Newberry Aces. Dennis Bourdeau got a hat trick and Jack Bourdeau and Dan Larson added the remaining goals.
Feb. 10, 1971 — Tom Kangas topped the 1,000-point mark, leading the Escanaba Eskymos to a 72-63 basketball triumph over the Kingsford Flivvers. Kangas scored 34 points in this Great Northern Conference match-up. Mike Cousineau finished with 14.
