Meet the Athlete: Kyle Husturlid

ESCANABA — As the Bay College Norse roll on now in the final month of regular season action Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got a chance to catch up with freshman guard Kyle Hustrulid to discuss a variety of topics.
Adam Hinch: What made you choose Bay College?
Kyle Hustrulid: I decided I wanted to go the junior college route late around May and I started posting my stuff on Twitter and coach Johnson reached out to me and after I talked to him and heard his plan for the team I knew I wanted to be here.
AH: Do you plan to continue basketball past the junior college level?
KH: Yeah definitely I want to go as high as I can whether that be D1 or not wherever I can go I want to go.
AH: What do you want to do after basketball?
KH: I’m interested in coaching and my faith is a big part of my life and I want to use that as my platform whether that be through my church or just coaching and fostering that christian spirit.
AH: Did you play any other sports?
KH: I played every sport up til middle school and from then on it was just basketball.
AH: What do you like to do for fun in your spare time?
KH: I like hanging out with my friends and I enjoy hanging out with my teammate Trevor Nolan and I enjoy researching Christianity and and learning other languages and spending time with my family.
AH: What is your favorite kind of music?
KH: I really enjoy christian music but I also like country music only music I don’t like is rap.
AH: What is your favorite food?
KH: My favorite food is probably sushi.
AH: Where did you come here from?
KH: I came from Edina, Minnesota.
AH: Who was your biggest role model growing up?
KH: I would say my grandpa for basketball. But in life it would have to be my dad who set a great example for me.
