Eskymos fall to Copper Kings
CALUMET — The Escanaba Eskymos girls basketball team played there best game of the season despite falling 42-35.
The Eskymos trailed 35-34 with 1:20 to go in the fourth quarter before senior Landry Bray fouled out with 13 points. The Copper Kings outscored the Eskymos 7-1 from that point on to earn the win.
Senior Susie Moberg had her best game of the season on defensive side of the ball as she held Calumet’s Bailey Strom to six points as she also fouled out in the fourth quarter.
“I was really proud of the way our girls fought tonight,” Eskymos coach Tracy Hudson said. “We played really well against a team that has played well against some of the top teams which should give us a boost in confidence for this upcoming week.”
FreshmanKyla Strom led the way for Calumet with 13 points and senior Kiirsi Johnson added 11.
Esvanaba won the JV game 33-27. The Eskymos will be back in action tonight as they travel to Gladstone.
