Jan. 25, 1961 — Bill LaChance hit a field goal with 30 seconds left to play as the Perkins Yellowjackets hung on for a 58-56 basketball triumph over the Nahma Arrows. LaChance finished with 21 points and Don Pomeroy led Naham with 20.
The Hermansville Redskins ran their winning streak to 11 games as they defeated the Felch Forresters 57-48. Irwin Scholtz poured in 35 points for Hermansville.
The Powers-Spalding Tigers won in their new gym for the first time, topping the Florence Bobcats 60-46. Bill Murray paced the Tigers with 23 points. Joe Murray added 19 and Pat Popelka scored 13.
Jan. 28, 1961 — Gary Kircher scored 20 points as the Gladstone Braves upset the Norway Vikings 63-61. Jack Radicker added 13.
Con Yagodzinski’s 23 points paved the way for the Holy Name Crusaders in a 71-42 conquest of Marquette Bishop Baraga. Bill LeClaire tallied 16 and Dave Milkiewicz finished with 12.
Sam Boyer’s 18 points was enough to help the Rapid River Rockets post a 54-43 victory over the Eben Eagles. Poly Viau chipped in with 12.
Jan. 25, 1966 — Dave Freits of Escanaba rolled a 707 series, the highest this season at the Continental Lanes. Fruits, who bowls for the Pix Shoe Store in the Blue Monday League, hit games of 205, 248 and 254.
Jan. 26, 1966 — Phil Hartman poured in 30 points, leading the Cooks Clippers in a 92-54 basketball rout of Perkins. Neil Hartman added 24 and Bruce Swagart scored 16. Reggie Depuydt led the Yellowjackets with 15.
Harry Gordon and Len Wellings scored 21 points each, leading the Hermansville Redskins past the Felch Forresters 80-58. Randy Fochesato added 17 points. Boyd Dixon paced Felch with 14.
Darrel LaVigne tossed in 30 points as the Garden Jets topped the Bark River-Harris Broncos 80-59. Brent Rochefort tallied 17. Mike Thibault contributed 15 and Rod Lucas finished with 14. Ron Sharkey hit 20 and Jim Hooker added 19 for the Broncos.
Jan. 29, 1966 — The Escanaba Eskymos shot 53 percent from the floor as they rolled past the Kingsford Flivvers 84-46. Paul Miller led Esky with 21 points. Rick Kutchenberg tossed in 18 points and Dave Nyquist added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Tom Brawley’s 23 points were enough to lead the Manistique Emeralds to a 69-63 triumph over the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils. Jon Cameron hit 16. Dave Barton chipped in with 12 and Ron Asp had 11.
