IRON RIVER — The Escanaba girls basketball team trailed 10-6 at the end of the first quarter here Wednesday night in a tight game that the Eskymos had opportunities in but could not capitalize.

“I wasn’t that upset with our beginning,” Eskymos coach Tracy Hudson said. “We got two of our best scorers in foul trouble in Landry Bray and Susie Moberg. We kept it at a four or six-point game we just could not get that big run to give us that push and turnovers were also a problem for us tonight.”

The Wykons led 21-14 at halftime and

Ava Stalboerger led the way for the Eskymos with nine points. The Wykons were led by Bristol Shamion with 17 points and Lily DeSousa had 15.

The Eskymos will be back in action tonight as they host Calumet.
