Meet the Athlete: Taylor Asgaard

ESCANABA — With the 2025-26 boys basketball season underway, Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got the opportunity to sit down with Escanaba senior Taylor Asgaard to discuss a variety of topics.
Adam Hinch: So Taylor, when did you start playing basketball?
Taylor Asgaard: I started playing in second grade. That’s when I started playing some travel ball tournaments and it’s been my life ever since.
AH: Have you played any other sports?
TA: I played football and baseball.
AH: Of all the sports, which one is your favorite?
TA: Out of all of them I like basketball the most because I played it the longest and I just love it.
AH: What do you like to do in your spare time?
TA: I like to play video games, hang out with family and do stuff outside like golfing, fishing and hunting.
AH: What is your favorite subject in school?
TA: My best subject is math but my favorite would probably be history because I like my teacher and it’s interesting to learn about the past
AH: What is your favorite food?
TA: The hamburgers with the fried egg and stuff on them.
AH: Do you plan to play basketball after high school?
TA: I would like to but in reality I don’t know if that has a future for me but if it does I would definitely do it.
AH: What field are you looking to study after high school?
TA: I’m looking to go to Central Michigan or Michigan Tech for engineering.
AH: What is your favorite kind of music?
TA: I like classic rock like Kiss and Kansas.
AH: If you could go anywhere on vacation where would you go?
TA: I would honestly just stay in town.
AH: What was your favorite basketball moment?
TA: My favorite moment was a little bittersweet my sophomore season we went up to Negaunee and the hype was awesome but then we lost our next game.
