Area Hunters show off their kills at Elmer’s County Market deer poll
ESCANABA — Hunters from around the U.P. showed up at Elmer’s County Market in Escanaba Wednesday evening for the Annual Deer Poll.
Landon Bizeau a 13-year old got his first buck and it came with ab interesting backstory. His uncle who was hunting during dow season missed on a deer and it turns out that he grazed the deer as they noticed a small gash underneath the deer from an arrow.
“It felt good to get the deer he missed on,” Bizeau said. “I got it around nine in the morning as we were contemplating leaving but we stayed and I ended up hitting it the buck was a 9-pt and 150lb.
Scott Peterson also had early season success as he shot an 8-pt 186lb buck in Marquette county in the Norslund area.
This year marked the 27th year of the event.
