KIPLING — The Bay de Noc Sportsfisherman’s Club released 12.800 walleye into the bay this fall. Of the 10,000 released today 50 percent have the possibility to grow to 15 inches in two years. The club also released 107,000 fingerlings during the spring time.

“These drops help sustain the Walleye population in our area,” Bill Herbst said. “It also brings in big tournaments. Last year we had the Masters Walleye Circuit and this spring we have the National Walleye Tournament (NWT) making an appearance.”

The club said this would not be possible if not for grants from the Hannahville nation and a big donation from Billerud as well as donations from other fishermen and members of the community.

The club would also like to recognize the Chamber of Commerce and other local businesses who work hard to help keep Bay de Noc a world Walleye fishing destination for tourism and other local fishermen in our community.

Starting at $3.50/week.
