Valiquette wins King of the Hill at Yooper Fall Classic

ESCANABA — There was still a little feel of summer as the Escanaba Motor Speedway hosted the annual Yooper Fall Classic this past weekend.
Friday night there was an open practice and the King of the Hill races for the street stocks and sport modifieds.
In the street stocks Brian Vinney Jr. took home the $500 to win payout and Matt Valiquette added the King of the Hill victory to his long list of racing achievements.
In the exhibition vintage class, Sam Slaga picked up the feature win. Dave Broeders and Abi Yelle won the heat races. Full feature results were not available at time of story.
In the youth micro sprints, Tanner Rae picked up his third consecutive Yooper Fall Classic title. Colton Yelle came in second and Nathan Winling Jr. finished third. Wyatt Ammel and Lilah Wagner rounded out the top five. Tanner Rae and Keagan Jensen won the heat races.
In the sportsman micro sprints class, Braxton Lundquist picked up the heat and feature sweep. Chase Richer came in second and won the other heat race. Kristy Karl finished third and Ethan Juhola and Macy Degnan rounded out the top five.
In the super modified class, Drake Degnan picked up the feature win. Jesse Denome had a nice run coming in second as well as a win in heat race action. Scott Degnan finished third and Paul Hosking and Kevin Warm rounded out the top five.
In the 600 sprints, Chase Richer picked up the heat and feature sweep. Ethan Manninen came in second and Oakley Schwantes finished third. Bentley Richer and Robert Buttry rounded out the top five.
In the sport modified class, Rick Gustavson took home the $1,250 to win payout. Matt Valiquette came in second and Jesse Denome finished third as well as a win in heat race action. Ryan Lindbert and Anthony Harper rounded out the top five. Dustin Wudstrack and Matt Maki IV won the other heat races.
In the street stocks, Garrett Geyer picked up the feature win. Brian Vinney Jr came in second after winning the King of the Hill on Friday. Brayden Lundquist finished third and Qwentin Johnsen and Paul Wagner rounded out the top five. Drake Degnan, Cody Turner and Neil Aaberg won the heat races.
In the sport compacts Calvin Stueck picked up the heat and feature sweep. Tanner Olson came in second and Brent Mcnamara finished third. Dominick Lantagne came in fourth and won his heat race. Andrew VanDeses finished in fifth.
