Eskymos rout Vikings to improve to 2-0

ESCANABA — A strong effort on both sides of the ball led the Escanaba Eskymos to a 36-7 victory over Cadillac in a Big North Conference matchup here Friday.
The Eskymos compiled 306 yards of total offense to only 123 yards Cadillac.
The Eskymos got the ball to start the game and quickly moved down the field with senior Nolan Bink running it in from five yards out. The two-point conversion was good and the Eskymos led 8-0.
The Eskymos added to their lead with 9:25 to go in the second quarter as Bink connected on a 35-yard touchdown pass to senior Alex Stalboerger to put Esky up 16-0 after converting the two=point try.
“We have to think about the next game now,” Bink said. “We owe Petoskey one after last year and we have a good group of guys and I’m excited for the trip down there.”
The Eskymos next score came with 8:42 to go in the third quarter as sophomore Bryce Bichler scored on a TD run from one-yard out and Graham Johnson knocked in the point after extending the Esky lead to 23-0.
With 4:35 to go in the third quarter, junior Brody Ison took the snap and went 25 yards to the house and the Eskymos led 30-0 after the PAT.
Ison had a strong night on the ground as he rushed for 107 yards and on TD in the win.
“Our big thing on offense was fast forward every play,” Ison said. “Our offensive line has been doing great and on defense we have lots of playmakers that come up big when we need a big stop.”
The Eskymos found the end zone again with 9:28 to go in the game as Bink threw a 14-yard RD pass to Jacob Prey. The PAT was blocked and the Eskymos led 36-0.
“The kids played very well tonight,” Eskymos coach Bailey Lamb said. “We did a good job of executing our gameplan.”
Ison was in on almost every play on both sides of the ball as Lamb stated, he is a special kind of player.
“That kid is special, we found that out early,” Lamb said. “He works so hard and cares so much about the team and he is such an unbelievable leader on the field and we lean on him a lot.”
Cadillac got on the board with 2:31 to go in the game as Barron Hellowell took it in from 12 yards out.
“We are going to get to work this week and prepare for Petoskey,” Lamb said. “They have a good team and its going to be a battle. We got a long week of practice and we know there will be a lot pf challenges Friday night but these guys are ready for the challenge.”
