Lundquist brothers win big on Veteran’s night

ESCANABA — It was a big night for the Lundquist family as the brothers Brayden and Braxton both found their way to victory lane in feature action here Sunday during Sayklly’s Candies Salute to Veterans Night at Escanaba Motor Speedway.
Braxton Lundquist picked up the heat and feature sweep in the 500 sprint class coming from eighth on the starting grid to secure the win. Andrew Karl put in his best feature run finishing second and led 14 of the 20 laps. Chase Richer continued his strong season as he finished third. Ethan Juhola and Nathan Viau rounded out the top five. Juhola and Carson Artley took the heat wins as Artley filled in for Dalton Gustavson.
In the street stock class, Brayden Lundquist picked up his third feature win of the season. Ben Buckland came in second and won his heat race. Qwentin Johnsen finished third and Eric Mathieson and Tony Begovac rounded out the top five. Cody Turner won the other heat race.
In the 600 sprints, Bentley Richer picked up his first feature win of the season as he came from fourth on the grid to get the win. Brayden Lundquist came from sixth on the grid to finish second and Chase Richer finished third. Ethan Manninen and Logan Getzloff rounded out the top five.
In the sport modified class, Robby Iverson picked up a heat and feature sweep. Cody Johnson came from seventh on the grid to finish second. Bradley Viau came home third and Evan Gagne and Jesse Denome rounded out the top five. Tony Beauchamp and Kyle Johnson won the other two heat races.
In the super modified class, Paul Hosking picked up the heat and feature sweep. Jesse Denome came in second and Scott Degnan came in third. Gunnar Hansen and Drake Degnan rounded out the top five.
In the exhibition vintage class, Clotan Pepin picked up the feature win as well as a win in heat race action. Charles Peterson came in second and Dave Broeders finished third. Derek LeBresh and Harvey Lewis rounded out the top five. Ron Anderson won the other heat race.
In the youth micro sprints, Amelia Hart returned to victory lane for the third time this season. Tanner Rae came in second and won the heat race. Wyatt Ammel came in third and Carson Wagner and Keagan Jensen rounded out the top five.
In the sport compact class, Andrew VanDrese picked up the feature win. Brian VanDrese finished second and Brandon VanDrese finished third. Logan Reiffers and Tanner Olson rounded out the top five. Jared Demeuse picked up the heat win.
Escanaba Motor Speedway returns to action Saturday as EMP presents the race program. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
