Meet the racer: Sport mod racer Evin Gagne

ESCANABA — As the Escanaba Motor Speedway nears the halfway point of the 2025 regular season, the point standings are razor thin in every class. The sport mod class is no exception. Matt Valiquette and Jesse Denome are tied at 147 points. Evin Gagne sits one point back at 146. Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got an opportunity to sit down with Gagne and discuss a number of topics.

Adam Hinch: What got you into racing?

Evin Gagne: My grandpa and my uncle got me into it.

AH: What do you like to do outside of racing?

EG: I like hanging out with friends and going hunting and being on the farm raising animals for 4-H.

AH: What is your favorite NFL team?

EG: The Detroit Lions.

AH: Do you watch NASCAR? 

EG: Not as much as I used to.

AH: Who was your favorite NASCAR driver back when you watched it?

EG: Kasey Kahne.

AH: Is there any special event you would like to go to?

EG: I would like to go to a NASCAR race live.

AH: What is your favorite food?

EG: Tacos.

AH: What is your music of choice?

EG: Country.

AH: What was your most memorable moment from your career so far?

EG: My first win and being in victory lane with my family.

AH: What are your goals for this race season?

EG: Finish top five in points.
