ESCANABA — This Saturday marks the running of the sixth annual Christian Groleau Memorial Race.

Groleau died of suicide in January 2020 at the age of 24. This race was brought to the speedway as an instrument to support suicide awareness.

Groleau was a three-time track champion during his career. He won his first in 2012 in the 500 sprints and two in the 600 sprints in 2016 and 2018.

This year the race will team up with Overdose Awareness of Delta County. All proceeds from the bucket raffles and 50/50 drawings will be donated to the group.

Since its inception in 2020, the Christian Groleau Memorial Race is one of the highest attended weekly race programs of the season.

This year’s program will open with Jon Potes from Grace Church to deliver the invocation and Debbie Scheriff will perform the National Anthem.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
