Esky softball throttles Menominee for two wins

MENOMINEE — It was business as usual for Escanaba softball on Wednesday.
The Eskymos improved to 12-1 on the season with a road doubleheader sweep over Menominee. Here’s what went down.
Escanaba 19, Menominee 0 (3 innings)
The Eskymos jumped the Maroons for three runs in the first, 10 in the second and six in the third, mustering 15 base hits, five extra-base hits and six stolen bases in the process. Senior Grayson LaMarche was her usual self, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out six in three innings of action from the circle. She also finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored from the plate.
Senior Katey Lamb was a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run, double, four RBIs and three runs scored. Senior Clara Braun was 1-for-1 with a triple, three runs scored, three RBIs and drew two walks. Senior Carly Bowden finished 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and drew two walks. Senior McKenzie Engebretson went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a run scored, a stolen base and drew a pair of free passes to first base. Senior Maddy Mott went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored once. Junior Chloe Dubord went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Junior Breleigh Reinhart swiped two bases.
Escanaba 11, Menominee 0 (5 innings)
Even with a majority of their normal starters on the bench for rest purposes the Eskymos needed five innings to claim game two of Wednesday’s doubleheader, tallying 11 runs off nine hits while drawing eight walks and striking out one time.
Cam Buckley earned the win in the circle, allowing three hits and fanning nine across five shutout innings. Reinhart finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored. Bowden finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Junior Harlee Coolman was 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and two runs scored. Junior Addison Noblet went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Dubord swiped three bases. Braun also stole a base in the win.
