Bronco softball drops pair to Knights
NORWAY — An explosive display of hitting propelled Norway softball to a doubleheader sweep over Bark River-Harris taking game one 14-2 and game two 16-1.
Knights pitcher Kendall Burkland struck out 11 batters as the right-handed pitcher earned the win in game one. Burklund surrendered two runs on three hits while walking three.
Kara Stanchia collected three hits in four at bats with one RBI.
The Broncos opened the scoring in the first inning as Kaet Erickson had an RBI triple to put the Broncos up 1-0.
The Knights took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first after Jordyn Moln Hit a two-run double and Lilly Tomlanovich grounded out, scoring one.
The Knights added 11 runs on five hits in the third inning. Burklund singled, scoring a run, Moln and Tomlanovich each drew a walk to score a run. Emma Dube was hit by a pitch to bring in a run. After a run was scored on an error, Payton Paquette hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one and Myah Gilroy was hit by a pitch scoring one. Kara Stanchina singled, scoring a run and Burklund singled, scoring two and a bad throw scored another run on the error.
In game two, Emilee Marier drove in four runs on two hits including a bases loaded triple in the first inning and an RBI double in the second inning.
The Knights jumped out to an early lead as Moln doubled, scoring a run. Marier had a bases loaded triple. The Knights got a pair of runs off an error and Stanchina singled, scoring a run.
Stanchina earned the win for the Knights allowing one run on two hits with six strikeouts and zero walks.
