Braves drop two to Flivvers

KINGSFORD — Errors proved to be costly for Gladstone boys baseball as it dropped a doubleheader to Kingsford falling 8-3 in game one and 10-4 in game two.

In game one, Kingsford flipped the game in the sixth inning scoring seven runs on six hits with three errors, highlighted by a two-run single by Garrett Brown.

Brown earned the win allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Austin Pepin took the loss for the Braves allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout and no walks. Cooper Sanville started on the mound for the Braves giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk.

In game two, a single by Gavin Trevillian put the Flivvers on the board in the top of the first.

The Braves responded with an RBI single by Peppin to tie the game at one.

The Flivvers broke up the tie in the top of the third as Nolan Hendrikson hit a two-run single then later stole home to put the Flivvers up 4-1.

The Braves answered back in the bottom of the third with runners on second and third. Trevor Thorbahn hit a single to center field, scoring two and Davin Mattonen singled on a ground ball to left to tie the game at four.

The Flivvers took the lead back in the fourth inning as Nic Novara, Jacob Deuter and Trevillian each had RBI hits to give the Flivvers a 7-4 lead.

Gavin Grondin got the win for Kingsford allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts and five walks.

Isaac Ketchum got the loss for the Braves allowing four runs on four hits with one strikeout and four walks.
