Bark River-Harris baseball sweeps North Central
HERMANSVILLE — Lucas Hall had a solid performance on the mound in game one for Bark River-Harris baseball as it defeated North Central 5-3 in game one and 18-2 in game two.
Hall picked up the win in game on for the Broncos allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks in the opener.
“Lucas did a great job on the mound today,” Broncos coach Al Botwright said.
Andy Johnson got the scoring started for the Broncos as he hit a flyball and reached on an error which scored two runs.
The Broncos added to the lead in the second inning as sophomore Dane Schmitt hit an RBI double to left for a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning Jordan Walters hit a double and Sam Salo singled to put runners on second and third. Walters stole home and Daunte Sandoval grounded out to the third baseman scoring Salo and the Jets cut the deficit to 3-2.
In the top of the fourth, Schmitt reached on an error and Jacob Mileski drew a walk. Dominick Lantagne was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Schmitt stole home to put the Broncos up 5-2.
In game two, Schmitt collected three hits and Andy Johnson added three as the Broncos ran away with the contest.
“Andy really hit the ball well for us today,” Botwright said. “He really got after the ball and was aggressive at the plate.”
Schmitt picked up the win in game two allowing two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
“Dane did a good job of throwing strike and making them put the ball in play,” Botwright said. “The defense did a very good job of making plays behind him and they really fed off each others game.”
