Esky hockey sweeps weekend action in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY — After suffering a 4-2 loss to Jeffers on Wednesday night, Escanaba hockey bounced big in a big way.

The Eskymos earned two wins during the 2024 TCW Thanksgiving Invite.

First came a 3-1 Esky win over Traverse City West on Friday night.

Seniors Cale Carter and Alex Schwalbach, as well as junior Keagan Braun, each scored a goal. Junior Nolan Bink tallied two assists while junior Graham Johnson tallied three helpers. Junior goalie Cully Hayes turned away 33 of 34 TC West shots on goal.

Saturday’s game against TC Central needed more than 51 minutes to determine a winner. In the end, it was Carter who netted the game winning-goal deep into overtime for a 3-2 win.

Johnson added two goals while Carter also tallied an assist. Nolan Bink registered two assist while freshman Nick Martinson added a helper of his own. Hayes earned 38 saves.

The Eskymos stay on the road for their next five games, starting with a clash against Calumet at 7 p.m. Friday.
