MARQUETTE — Gladstone swimming fell to Marquette on Monday at Marquette High School. Marquette girls defeated Gladstone 114 to 63 and the Braves’ boys team fell 122 to 34.

Despite the loss, the Braves girls team won six out of the 13 events. Adrianna Getzloff won the 100 meter freestyle and the 100 meter backstroke. Her freestyle time of 57.71 broke a team record. Ava Getzloff added a win in the 50 meter freestyle. Mary Hook won the 100 meter breaststroke and Irene Neumeier won the 100 meter butterfly. Ava Getzloff added a second-place finish in the 100 meter backstroke. The relay team of Adrianna Getzloff, Ava Getzloff, Neumeier and Hook emerged victorious in the 200 meter medley relay.

The Braves boys team was undermanned at this meet, with only five boys competing due to illness and other obligations. Nate Lanaville who won the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyle events. Tyler Soderman added second-place finishes in the 200 intermedley and 100 meter breaststroke events.
