Escanaba names new athletic director

Escanaba Jr/Sr. High School has a new athletic director entering the 2023-24 school year. Escanaba hired Nate Zaremba as the man in charge of Eskyo sports. Zaremba spent the last two school years as the AD in Manistique. He was a boys and girls track coach at Hanover-Horton High School from Oct. 2020 to Oct. 2021 and was Regional Coach of the year in 2021. He also spent time as a substitute teacher at Concord Community Schools as well as middle school basketball and football coach. Zaremba was a four sport athlete himself in high school competing in football, baseball, basketball and track.

Zaremba obtained his Masters Degree in Science and Athletic Administration from the University of Ohio in Athens. Zaremba also attended Ferris State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Science.

Zaremba, originally from Chicgo, looks to bring consistency and longevity to the Escanaba Community. “I’m happy to be here, Zaremba said. I’ts a beautiful area i’m not planning on going anywhere.

“Escanaba has that city vibe but also that small town everybody knows everybody feel which is what i like.”

Zaremba looks to continue to improve Escanaba School facility’s. “I don’t see why we can’t have the best facility’s in the U.P.,” Zaremba said. Its a bunch of hard work and dedication that goes into making facilities the best they can be.

Zaremba looks to be involved in promoting athletic events in the community on every form of social media and by being proactive within the community. “We all want the best for the kids in this community and need to do everything we can to support then over their time at Escanaba Jr/Sr. High Zaremba said. “The stands should be full at every event not just certain ones that’s why we have to get it out to the people to get out and support Escanaba athletics.

Education defiantly comes first and foremost to Zaremba.” “Kids need to put academics firs playing sports is a privilege not a right,” Zaremba said. “We need to make sure they have the tools compete in classrooms as the do on the fiels and courts.”
