Munising, North Central boys receive basketball honors
MUNISING — The Munising boys’ basketball team finished undefeated in the Skyline Central Conference this season and received its due in recent voting by the league’s coaches.
Munising was crowned large school champion and North Central won the small school division.
Mustangs’ senior Kane Nebel was named overall Player of the Year and Forest Park junior Felix Quevedo was selected defensive Player of the Year with Munising’s Terry Kienitz earning Coach of the Year honors.
North Central senior Luke Gorzinski and Norway junior Alex Ortman were unanimous first-team picks.
Also selected to the first team were North Central senior Connor Florenski, Rapid River senior Ian Sundling, Munising sophomore Trevor Nolan, Forest Park sophomore Kevin Guiliani and Bark River-Harris senior Kaden Drossart.
Second-team picks are North Central senior Dylan Plunger, Norway senior Michael Peterson, Rapid River senior Kodey Goldi, Stephenson senior Spencer Coldren and sophomores Zach Schwartz and Owen Kuehnau, Munising sophomore Carson Kienitz, North Dickinson junior Antonio Inglese, Carney-Nadeau senior Ashton Wandahsega and BR-H junior Ethan Ives.
Those selected to the all-defensive team are Gorzinski, Nebel, BR-H senior Vincent Martin, North Dickinson freshman Spencer Kramer, Peterson, Plunger, Munising senior Cully Trzeciak and Kuehnau.
Honorable mention went to C-N sophomore Sam Salo, Quevedo, Munising sophomore Jack Dusseault, Kramer and North junior Wyatt Spade.
Nolan shot 84 percent from the line and earned the free throw award.
BR-H senior Josiah Javurek received the individual sportsmanship award with North Dickinson and Superior Central shared the team sportsmanship award.
