Broncos retain their WestPAC Conference title
IRON RIVER — The Bark River-Harris Broncos retained their WestPAC Conference Iron Division football title which was reflected in voting by the league’s coaches in their recent fall meeting.
Broncos’ senior running back Vincent Martin was named Offensive Player of the Year. Classmate Corbin LaFave was selected Defensive Player of the Year with BR-H junior Lucas Sischo the pick as Lineman of the Year.
This year’s Coach of the Year is BR-H’s Al Stenberg.
BR-H junior Ethan Ives was tabbed the league’s quarterback with Martin as the top running back.
Also picked at running back were Ishpeming senior Preston Gauthier and junior Hunter Smith with senior teammate Logan Hurkmans named at wide receiver.
The league’s offensive linemen include BR-H junior Lucas Sischo and sophomore Lucas Hall, Gwinn senior Colton Berglund and Ishpeming senior Aidan Rajala and junior Brayden Martin.
Broncos’ junior Charlie Guenette and senior Kavin Fredrick are the league’s tight ends with Ives as the punter.
Defensive selections include Manistique senior Ross Pugh and BR-H junior Ben Shiverski, both at end.
The league’s top linemen include BR-H junior Mitch Bloniarz and senior Luke Shiverski, Ishpeming senior A.J. Prosser and Gwinn junior Hank Menard.
Selections at linebacker are LaFave, Gauthier and Ishpeming junior Hayden Hares.
Leading defensive backs include BR-H senior Josiah Javurek, Gwinn junior Logan Soyring and Ishpeming junior Alex Sundberg with BR-H junior picked as the league’s punter.
Those receiving honorable mention are Manistique’s Elmer Zellar (tight end), Gwinn’s Austin Hutchens (offensive lineman) and Ishpemng’s Connor Gauthier and BR-H’s Josh Riley (defensive backs).
