Baker’s dozen get All-Upper Peninsula Dream Team honors
MARQUETTE — A baker’s dozen.
That’s how many area athletes received All-Upper Peninsula Dream Team or first-team recognition during the 73rd Annual football meeting of the U.P. Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association here Wednesday.
Great Northern Conference and Division 6 district champ Gladstone landed eight berths. Escanaba and Bark River-Harris filled two spots apiece and Manistique got one.
A half-dozen Gladstone gridders were picked for the Dream Team including senior running back Cole Potier, defensive tackle Josh Racine and defensive back Braden Sundquist and junior quarterback Nate Young, center Vinny Howes and linebacker Austin Solis.
Howes was perfect on snaps and Young completed 94-of-166 passes for 1 601 yards, including 10 screen passes to Potier for 278 yards and three touchdowns.
Potier rushed for 1,446 yards on 193 carries. Young added 505 in 83 attempts.
Solis collected 125 tackles, including three for losses. Sundquist added 70 tackles, five interceptions and two fumble recoveries and Racine had 28 tackles, including four for loss, and a QB sack.

“Corbin is the most physical player I’ve had in 20 years of coaching high school football,” said BR-H coach Al Stenberg.

Lawson caught a school-record 59 passes for 871 yards and 10 TDs and Brown punted for an average of 39.7.
