ESCANABA -- It was a tough night on the volleyball court for the Bay College Norse here Monday as they dropped a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-16) decision to the Milwaukee Area Tech Stormers.
The Norse were within 16-13 in the third set before the Stormers got a sideout on a kill by sophomore Colleen DeLisle.
Bay was still within 20-16 following a Stormers' service error, but couldn't get any closer.
"We've been struggling lately," said Norse coach Dan Porath. "We've got to find a way to keep the energy up. Our team is nursing some injuries. Hopefully, we can add to our depth next year."
The Stormers (12-12), who had dropped their four previous matches, gained a 10-3 advantage in the finale on a kill by freshman Jemma Gatlin.
Bay (8-12) trimmed its deficit to 10-6 on a Stormers' hitting miscue and got within three points on three occasions.
The second was tied at 18 before the Stormers pulled away to take that set.
"This is a learning curve for everybody, including myself," said Porath. "I'm just getting to know the other teams. We're trying to build a culture. We just got to find a way to win a couple matches."
Norse freshman setter Amber Caylor hit five service aces to go with 23 assists and seven digs. Freshman middle hitter Kylee Tadisch collected eight kills and Superior Central graduate Emma Rutter added six.
Bay's defensive leader was freshman libero Tori Jandt with 14 digs. Leah Allan had 10 and Gladstone grad Alissa Sanville added eight.
The Norse will try to end a four-match skid at Muskegon Community College Friday before visiting nationally-ranked Grand Rapids C.C. Saturday.
