Six schools compete in Mid-Peninsula Conference meet
ISHPEMING — Cross country runners from six Upper Peninsula schools took care of unfinished business here Tuesday, competing in the Mid-Peninsula Conference meet.
Gladstone senior Drew Hughes cruised his third consecutive M-PC title by covering the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 16.7 seconds.
He was followed by Negaunee seniors Judge Anderson (18:11.7) and James Dank (18:19) and Gladstone junior Tanner Howes (18:30.3) and sophomore Aaron Hughes (18:49.1)
Negaunee took the team title with 28 points, followed by Gladstone 35, Manistique 73 and Westwood 100.
The Negaunee girls had the only complete team in a meet which was snowed out Oct. 17 and rescheduled.
Manistique senior Grant Mason took eighth in the boys’ race at 19:28.8.
Ishpeming junior Lola Korpi also won for the third straight time in 20:57.9, followed by Negaunee senior Endla Harris (21:40), Manistique freshman Maya Carlson (22:33;9), Ishpeming sophomore Laynie Korpi (23:34.1) and Gladstone junior Kayla Farnes (24:31.8).
Manistique sophomore Calista Watchhorn placed seventh at 25:16.8, followed by Gladstone sophomore Lauren Sundquist (25:32.8).
