Mid Pen turns tide on Rockets
ST. NICHOLAS — Lengthy service runs helped the Mid Peninsula Wolverines turn the tide on Senior Night in a 3-1 (17-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-18) volleyball triumph over the Rapid River Rockets here Thursday.
Cora Prater and Josie Hemminger served for the majority of Mid Pen’s points in the second set.
“We came out a little slow in the first set, then we went on a couple long service runs,” said Mid Pen coach Emily Kayser. “We had a good serving night and great net play. Our team chemistry is right where we want it. Everyone made the stat sheet. We’re starting to bond well.”
Prater hit 10 aces and collected 26 assists. Hemminger added four aces and seven digs and Rachel Johnson had eight kills, three blocks and seven digs. Alexa Haring collected 18 assists and Kristin Koth recorded 12 digs.
“Cora had a phenomenal match,” said Kayser. “This was her showing all year.”
The Wolverines visit Stephenson tonight at 7:30. The Rockets host Superior Central Tuesday.
