Manistique boys take fourth in Rudyard Autumn Classic
RUDYARD — Sophomore Ben Gilroy placed eighth here Saturday, helping the Manistique boys take fourth in the Rudyard Autumn Classic cross country meet.
Gilroy covered the 3.1-mile course in 18 minutes, 25.2 seconds and senior Grant Mason was 12th at 19:12.8.
Gaylord North Trails Academy was crowned champion with 29 points, followed by Sault Ste. Marie 64, Mackinaw City 85 and Manistique 107.
Freshman Maya Carlson paced the Manistique girls in sixth (21:22,8).
The North Trails girls also won at 28, followed by Munising 36, Sault 84 and Cheboygan 90.
Newberry freshman Samantha Taylor earned top individual honors at 19:45, followed by North Trails sophomore Olivia Gust (20:22.5) and Newberry junior Kaylen Clark (20:42.7).
Other finishers for Manistique were sophomore Calista Watchhorn in 23rd (23:49), senior Clara Gilroy 28th (24:37.2) and sophomore Alexia Slater 32nd (25:58.2).
Also finishing for the Emeralds in the boys’ race were sophomore Blake Mason 42nd (21:54), seniors Austin Mischell 43rd (21:57.2), Alex Ziemba 57th (24:34.6) and Kirk Slater 61st (25:41.1).
The Emeralds conclude their season in Saturday’s Upper Peninsula Division 2 Finals at Flat Rock.
