Jets get honors from Great Lakes Eight West Conference coaches
POWERS — The North Central Jets continued their domination in eight-player football this season and were rewarded for their efforts during the fall meeting of the Great Lakes Eight West Conference coaches here Thursday.
Senior quarterback Luke Gorzinski was selected Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year and Leo Gorzinski was voted Coach of the Year. The Jets were also a unanimous pick as Team of the Year.
Classmate Dillon Raab was tabbed as the league’s offensive hybrid player with Norway senior Michael Peterson and Ontonagon senior picked as all-conference receivers.
Those gaining similar honors as offensive linemen were North Central junior Max Nason, Ontonagon senior Mason Totzke, Lake Linden-Hubbell senior Kirby Koskela and junior Gabe Popko.
First-team picks at linebacker are Raab and Stephenson senior Devon Groleau.
All-conference defensive linemen include North Central seniors Jordan Messenger and Drew Webber, Forest Park sophomore Kevin Guilani and Koskela.
North Central senior Dylan Plunger was among the selections at defensive back. Joining him are Norway senior Ian Popp, LL-H senior James Milkey and Ironwood senior Cody Dabb.
Jets’ senior Owen Eichmeier was picked as the league’s defensive hybrid with junior teammate Adrian Mercier the top pick as kicker.
Gogebic senior Riccardo Moauro was the league’s punter with Norway junior Wyatt Spade as the all-conference return specialist.
Ontonagon sophomore Austin Gordon was tabbed the league’s second-team QB.
Second-team wide receivers are North Central senior Elijah Gorzinski and North Dickinson freshman Spencer Kramer.
Dabb was selected the offensive hybrid with Stephenson senior Tristan Kacynski and Norway senior Tyler Neuens picked at running back.
Second-team offensive linemen are North Central senior Collin Cordy, Forest Park senior Adrian Bruette and Norway senior Isaac Lorenzoni.
Selections at linebacker are Forest Park senior Sam McKissack, Norway senior Kyle Napientak and North Dickinson junior Antonio Inglese.
Lorenzoni, Nason and Totzke are second-team selections as defensive linemen with Jacob Gorzinski, Stephenson junior Ethan Anderson, Forest Park junior Felix Quevedo and Gogebic senior Leo Imhoff tabbed as defensive backs.
The second-team hybrid is Gogebic sophomore Gabe Harju.
Also receiving league honors are LL-H’s Dan Marcotte, Stephenson’s Connor Dahl, Gogebic’s Antonio DelFavero, North Dickinson’s Matt Steinbrecher, Forest Park’s Payton Woollan, Norway’s Shane Swanson and Ironwood’s Elijah Sprague.
