Eskymos snap losing streak with Alpena win
ALPENA — Escanaba’s offense shined here Friday night in a 46-21 football triumph over the Alpena Wildcats.
The non-conference victory enabled the Eskymos to snap a four-game losing streak and improve to 2-6.
Ben Johnson scored on a 50-yard touchdown pass from Casey Bray, then added a 62-yard TD run, giving the Eskymos a 14-0 lead.
Trent Lawson then scored on a 64-yard dash, extending Esky’s lead to 21-0.
A four-yard run by Brady Pagels got the Wildcats on the board in the second quarter.
Noah Gagnon extended Esky’s lead to 29-7 and a last-second field goal provided the Eskymos with a 32-7 halftime cushion.
Johnson ran 20 times for 205 yards for the Eskymos, who scored the last two TDs, according to the Alpena News.
Bray was 9-of-17 passing for 229 yards and Lawson caught four aerials for 120.
Kaleb Donajkowski led Alpena in rushing with 144 yards and a TD on 20 carries and Pagels added a 24-yard TD run.
Esky concludes its season at second-ranked Gladstone Friday at 7 p.m.
