Broncos come on top over Wolves

CARNEY — Bark River-Harris proved equal to Carney-Nadeau’s challenge in a 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-9, 25-23) volleyball triumph over the Wolves here Wednesday night.

“The kids played hard tonight,” said Wolves’ coach Steve Kedsch. “We’ve got a game plan in place for the district and the kids did a good job following it. In the third set we kind of got out of it, but good teams will battle back. I’m happy to see the energy the girls put into that fourth set.”

Sophomore Mariska Laurila led the Wolves with 14 kills and 10 digs. Hailey DeGrave added eight kills. Elodie Lenca tallied five kills and 12 digs. Samantha Kedsch finished with four kills, 24 assists and 11 digs and Veronica Lawrence-Smits had 11 digs.

“Mariska worked hard,” said coach Kedsch. “She’s very active at the net, hitting and blocking. We put a lot on her, but she’s a very athletic sophomore.”

The Broncos who also won the jayvee match (25-7, 25-14), travel to North Dickinson Tuesday. C-N hosts North Central Tuesday.
