Broncos shut out Wykons
HARRIS — The Bark River-Harris football team entered a win streak with a shutout win over West Iron County, 48-0, in Bark River to close its second week.
The Broncos Ben Shiverski, Ethan Ives, Tristan Halfaday and David Mosse all picked up a touchdown on the ground. Fullback Vincent Martin finished with 103 yards on five carries rushing and a touchdown, and backup fullback Luke Shiverski notched 66 yards on eight carries with three touchdowns.
In total, 12 players finished with at least one carry.
“We had a lot of JV guys that were up from the fifth quarter rule, and they got at least a quarter on the field tonight,” Broncos coach Al Stenberg said. “Some of our backups, who going into the tougher part of the schedule, may not get a lot of carries, have some varsity backups now. And, they have some experience with success.”
Defensively, the Broncos were led by senior linebacker Corbin Lafave, and Charlie Guenette collected one interception.
“The line was blocking well all night no matter who we had in there,” Stenberg said. “There’s nothing to build confidence in a back like hitting open holes.”
The Broncos earned the majority of their yards on the ground 424 out of 447 total.
