ESCANABA -- It took a couple innings for Escanaba's bats to warm up here Monday.
Once they did, the Eskymos took care of business within five frames in a 17-0 softball triumph over the Marquette Redettes on Senior Day.
Esky broke open this Great Northern Conference contest by scoring 11 times in the third frame.
Lizzy Slive belted a two-run homer to centerfield and Carley McInerney added a three-run shot to left in the third.
"We haven't practiced in 1 1/2 weeks," said Esky coach Andy Fields. "We've just been playing games. I think we need some practice reps right now."
Erica Moore clubbed an RBI double to left and Sliva added an RBI single to left for a 15-0 advantage in the fourth.
Esky scored four times in the fourth, then elected to go on defense with just one out in the inning.
In the fifth, the Eskymos paid tribute to their seniors by taking them off the field one at a time in this season's final home appearance.
Fields later thanked all the seniors and their parents for their contributions.
"I appreciate everything they did this year," he said. "This is a very special group."
Senior shortstop Carsyn Segorski led off the first with a single to left, then stole the next two bases and scored Esky's first run on a passed ball.
Abby Hill, who drew a walk, also scored on a passed ball for a 2-0 lead.
The Eskymos finished with 10 hits, including two apiece by Segorski, Hill and Sliva and Izzy Braun added a two-run double to left in the third.
McKayla Mott, Hill and Emily Moore combined on a one-hitter. Mott struck out four and walked none in 2 1/3 innings. Moore fanned five of the six hitters she faced and Hill gave up the only hit in the third.
"Emily got a neck injury in a car accident last week and is still recovering, but pitched real well today," said Fields. "We have a big game at Gladstone tomorrow."
Alaina Saari, who pitched 2 2/3 innings, absorbed the loss. She struck out four, walked three and gave up 13 runs on six hits.
The Redettes committed four errors and the Eskymos had none.
"Alaina really threw well," said Marquette coach Kyle Johnson. "She kept them off balance for the first couple innings. Then they caught up with us. They're a great team. They've been playing together for years and years. Defensively, we made too many errors. They're a smart team which takes advantage of opportunities."
Esky, which also won the jayvee game 16-2 in five frames, visited Gladstone for a single game Tuesday.
The Eskymos resume with a make-up game at Kingsford June 1. Marquette hosts Menominee in a twinbill Thursday.
