Eskymos top Maroons

MENOMINEE — The Escanaba baseball team and Scott Hiller earned a 21-1, three-inning win over Menominee here Monday.

Hiller helped the Eskymos early, batting in Trent Lawson for his first of six RBIs in the shortened game. He then took advantage of a Maroons’ error to reach home to finish Esky’s scoring for the inning.

The Maroons picked up one in the bottom of the first but made no further headway for the rest of the game.

Escanaba added five more runs in the second and 14 in the third to seal the game.

Lawson earned the win for Esky over two innings, allowing one hit, one run and one walk while striking out five. Adam Willette pitched one inning in relief, striking out one.

Hiller finished with three hits in addition to six RBIs, and Hunter Lancour collected three RBIs and three hits. Bon LaChance and Chase Cloutier notched two RBIs. The Eskymos finished the three innings with 13 hits.

The Maroons had a multitude on the mound, cycling through five pitchers who gave up a collective 13 hits, 21 runs (15 earned), and eight walks while striking out two.

Escanaba hosts Marquette today.
