Esky boys tennis wins two

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eskymos earned a shutout tennis victory Monday afternoon in a makeup match against the West Iron County Wykons in Escanaba.

The 8-0 win was a repeat of a Friday home shutout effort against the Westwood Patriots last week.

In the Monday match against West Iron, Jackson Cousineau (No. 4 singles), Reid Brazeau (No. 4 doubles), Connor Howes (No. 4 doubles) and Trent Lyyski (No. 3 doubles alongside Trevor Mathieson) all earned their first varsity wins as part of the Eskymos tennis team.

Other victorious Eskymos included Nathan Howes (No. 1 singles), Connor Smale (No. 2 singles), Sam Rivera (No. 3 singles) and the teams of Dawson Williams and Josep Montel (No. 1 doubles), Braly Pierce and Andrew Lord (No. 2 doubles).

On Friday, Gunnar Dlugas (No. 1), Nathan Howes (No. 2), Shawn Beauchamp (No. 3) and Smale (No. 4) all earned victories in their singles matches, while the teams of Isaac Maki and Dawson Williams (No. 1), Joe Hubert and Josep Montel (No. 2), Tony Delvaux and Evan St. Peter (No. 3) and Parker Lafond and Andrew Lord (No. 4) all won their matches in doubles competition.

Escanaba took on West Iron County in a rematch Monday and visits Munising Friday.

The match scheduled against Gladstone today has been rescheduled to May 11.
