Eichhorn earns 3rd Player of the Year in the Big East Conf.

MILWAUKEE -- Hunter Eichhorn has been named Big East Conference golf player of the year for the third time.

A graduate student at Marquette University, Eichhorn was also the Big East selection in 2018 and 2021.

He averaged 70.41 this season, his fifth year on the team after gaining an extra year due to the pandemic. He finished fifth in the Big East Conference tournament with a 5-under-par 212.

Eichhorn will compete in the NCAA regional in Columbus, Ohio May 15-18. He is the top seeded individual in the regional and is ranked 86th nationally by GolfStats.

Marquette teammate Max Lyons was selected freshman of the year in the Big East.

Eichhorn advanced through the U.S. Open local qualifier Wednesday at Wild Rock Country Club in Wisconsin.

With a 2-under-70 and tie for fourth place, he advances to a final qualifier for a chance to compete in the U.S. Open.
