Eskymos girls track
routs short Flivvers
KINGSFORD — Nearly everything went right for the Escanaba girls in a 142-2 rout of Kingsford in a dual track meet here Tuesday.
Esky had three double-winners, including Ciara Ostrenga who took the 800-meter run in two minutes, 42 seconds and 1600 (6:09). Caitlyn Davenport copped the 100 (13.5) and 200 (28.27) and Mari Bink captured the 400 (1:08) and long jump at 14 feet, seven inches.
“This is the first time in my coaching career that we won every event,” said Esky coach Dan DeLong. “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Esky’s boys fell to the Flivvers by a substantial margin. Dan Smith won the 800 and Nathan Lanaville took pole vault at eight feet.
The Eskymos host Gladstone, Rapid River and Negaunee in their relay invitational Friday.
“That will be a fun meet,” said DeLong. “It will be good to see Negaunee for the first time this year.”

GLADSTONE — The Escanaba girls tennis team came in second Monday in Gladstone, shooting a combined 217.
Marquette took first with 208, and Esky was followed by Kingsford 220 and Menominee 228.
The Redmen also earned the victory on the boys side with 166. They were followed by Menominee 168, Escanaba 170 and Kingsford 177.
