FELCH -- The North Central Jets girls basketball team (2-3) lost 48-24 to the North Dickinson Nordics (4-2) Friday night in Felch.
Penalty trouble, said Jets coach Dave Florenski, put the Jets behind the eight ball. Despite that, the team still fought hard until the end of the game.
"We couldn't overcome the early foul trouble," Florenski commented. "(It) dug us into a hole but the girls battled to the final buzzer."
Gracie Kleikamp led the Jets in scoring with 12 points, including a trio of three-point baskets.
Sam Burton (5), Carley Naser (4) and Shea LaCoursier (3) rounded out the North Central scoring.
It was a special night for the Nordics' Ashton Hord -- who led North Dickinson in scoring with 20 points -- as she scored her 1,000 career points during the game.
The Jets play the Norway Knights next on Thursday in Norway while North Dickinson hosts the Carney-Nadeau Wolves Wednesday.
