Esky icers split games with Calumet, Cadillac
WELLS — The Escanaba Eskymos settled for a split in their two hockey games this weekend, blanking Cadillac 7-0 Friday night and falling to Calumet 9-2 Saturday.
Gunnar Bourdeau and Sawyer LaMarch scored two goals apiece and Jayger LaMarch, Karson Krutina and Trevor Streichert added one each in Friday’s contest.
Esky led 2-0 after the first period and 5-0 after two.
The Eskymos outshot the Vikings 34-14 and goaltender Bryce Buchbinder stopped every shot. Cadillac’s Dylan Quartz had 27 saves.
Jayger LaMarch hit both goals against the Copper Kings.
Calumet’s Ayden Williams scored a hat trick, and Paul Sturos added a pair of goals.
The Copper Kings outshot Esky 38-30, with Dylan Ziemke making 29 saves. Calumet’s Aksel Loukus stopped 28 shots.
Esky travels to Manistique Friday.
