North Central girls take loss against Menominee Maroons
MENOMINEE — The North Central Jets (2-2) girls basketball team lost 48-23 Monday night against the Menominee Maroons (3-1) in Menominee.
After sticking with the Marrons for the first quarter of play, only trailing by one point 8-7, the Jets found themselves in trouble with penalties and allowing too many opportunities.
“With only seven girls, we got into foul trouble and we gave them too many second chances,” said North Central coach Dave Florenski.
Florenski added, despite the scoreboard, the North Central girls kept their energy up until the end.
“But, my team kept battling and never gave up,” he said.
Gracie Kleikamp led the team in scoring with nine points while her teammates Sam Burton (5), Shea LaCoursier (4), Ashton Smith (3) and Zoe LaBonte (2) also contributed points for the Jets in the game.
