Maroons remain number 1

ESCANABA — Much remained the same at the top of both the 11 and 8-player Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association U.P. football poll as both the Menominee Maroons (5-3) and the North Central Jets (8-0) stay atop their respective polls.

In the 11-player poll, all rankings remained in their place as well with Marquette (6-2) in second, Westwood (7-1) and Negaunee (7-1) tied for third and Calumet (6-2) and Sault Ste. Marie (5-3) rounding things out.

Behind the North Central Jets in the 8-player poll there were a few changes as Pickford (7-1) and Forest Park (7-1) swapped the second spot this week.

Lake Linden-Hubbell (6-2) jumped into fourth as Munising (6-2) fell to fifth.

Newberry and Pickford remained in the honorable mention spots as Ontonagon fell out of this weeks teams after placing fifth last week.
