GLADSTONE -- The fourth annual Doc Hirn Golf Tournament at the Terrace Bluff Golf Course in Gladstone was a success again this year.

With the help of community, family, and friends the tournament was able to raise $19,124 for the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight.

Hoyt Noel led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Boy Scout Oath as Chloe Smith followed by singing the National Anthem for the 3rd year in a row before the golfers headed out.

Doc Hirn was former US Navy, a WWII veteran, and was on Mission IV to Washington DC. Doc had said many times next to marrying his wife and the birth of his children/grandchildren it was the best day he had ever had.

The Hirn family thanks the UP Honor Flight for all they do for our veterans and we look forward to honoring not only Doc Hirn, but all our veterans in the years to come.

The Hirn family would also like to say a special thank you to the Terrace Bluff Golf Course and their hard working staff for making every year amazing and added if you see a veteran today tell them thank you.

It is never too late to say thank you.
