ESCANABA -- The Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame all-star basketball game will not be held this year, for several reasons, including the ongoing pandemic.
Our planned venue was not available and an alternate venue that was contacted did not respond in a timely matter, making it too late to organize the event.
The 2020 all-star classic was also canceled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic limitations on crowd size and testing procedures were also not clear at the time the decision was made to cancel the game.
In addition, the original date selected for the game presented a conflict with another event.
The future of the all-star classic will be discussed in detail when the UPSHF executive council meets July 30 near Iron River.
