50th Croatian Open a success at ECC

ESCANABA — Awards were handed out to winners of the 50th Annual Croatian Open held at the Escanaba Country Club, the original site of the 1st Croatian Open that started in 1971.
Tim Shea won the Jiggs Schomin Memorial Trophy with a low score of 37. He was followed by Marie Iverson, who won the Margaret Konas Memorial Trophy with a low score of 44.
In addition, Harry Stropich, with a low net score of 29, won the Tom Vardigan Memorial Trophy.
Other winners were Larry Bratonia — who won the Ben Schomin Memorial Trophy with the 2nd low gross of 38, Mike Eugate — who won the Steve Brayak Memorial Trophy for age 50 and over with a low gross of 38, Jeff Bratonia Jr. — who won the Nick Brayak Jr. Memorial Trophy with a low net of 33 for age 50 and over, Steve Bratonia — who won the Nick Goymerac Memorial Trophy with a low gross of 39 for age 60 and over, Tom Stropich — who won the Steve Rodman Memorial Trophy with a low net of 34 for age 60 and over, and Chris Bratonia — who won the Youngs Men’s Under 30 years-old with a low net of 34.
Forty-one golfers took part in the festivities, which included a meal of Croatian chicken cooked by Ivan Malnar and Paul Pinar and the traditional povitica made by Diane Micheau to 47 guests.
Next year’s event will be held at the Escanaba Country Club on June 26, 2022.
