Area players honored on BCAM awards list

ESCANABA -- The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan recently released its 2021 list of honors, including several student-athletes from the Upper Peninsula.
On the boys' side, the BCAM awarded all-state honors to Escanaba's Erik Victorson (10.5 points per game, totaled 46 assists and 26 steals on the season) for Division 2, while fellow Eskymos Carter Hudson (11.5 PPG, 7 rebounds per game, 64% free throws) and Colin Hudson (12.4 PPG, 29 total steals, 37.5% 3-point FG, 84% FT) earned honorable mentions.
In Division 4, Beau Koffman (21.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 5.2 APG and 2.1 SPG.) was named to the all-state team.
Both Victorson and Koffman hit the 1,000 point mark for career points this season,
For the girls, the BCAM named Nicole Kamin to the Division 2 all-state team. Kamin, like Victorson and Koffman, also hit 1,000 points this year and broke the Escanaba all-time girls basketball scoring record.
She averaged 24 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and three assists per game. From the free throw line, Kamin shot for 86%.
Eskymos boys coach Tracy Hudson was named Region 15 coach of the year.
Hudson commented that the honor was a team award and credited the assistant coaches that helped him lead the team to the state quarterfinals for the first in over six decades, Scott Hanson, Jake Berlinksi and Kirk Schwalbach.
For team honors, a total of four area teams were awarded academic honors.
Gladstone (3.59 GPA) and Escanaba (3.56) earned honors at Division 2 for the boys. Gladstone girls (3.83 GPA) also earned the same honor on their side at Division 2, while the Mid Peninsula Wolverines (3.86 GPA) had the honor in Division 4.
The following student-athletes earned Outstanding Senior Awards: Girls -- Nicole Kamin 3.846 (Escanaba), Megan Crow 3.96491 (Gladstone), Ahna Larson 3.98246 (Gladstone), Megan Robinson 3.85965 (Gladstone) and Alaina Trudeau 3.98095 (Gladstone).
Boys -- Cam Ballard 4 Dayton Bernson 3.97 Rane Castor 3.97, Lucas Hughes 3.8, all from Gladstone.
