EAST LANSING -- Escanaba's Nicole Kamin was named to the Division 2 All-State First Team Wednesday by a panel of 11 Michigan sportswriters.

Kamin had a big year playing for the Eskymos. In addition to district and regional championships, Kamin hit 1,000 career points and broke the all-time scoring record for girls' basketball at Escanaba.

This season, per game, she averaged: 24 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and three assists. From the free throw line, Kamin shot for 86%.

After the conclusion of the season -- which ended for Escanaba in the state quarterfinals against eventual state champion Portland -- Kamin was named to the All-U.P. Dream Team and earned honors as Miss Basketball and Player of the Year.

She has signed to play basketball at Grand Valley State University next year.
