Esky’s Delvaux collects U.P. Boy’s Singles title

ISHPEMING -- The U.P. High School bowling singles finals were held at River Rock Lanes in Ishpeming Saturday, and Escanaba's Troy Delvaux topped Iron Mountain's Marcus Doucette 455 to 436 to earn the U.P. Boys Singles title.
The Escanaba boys had a great showing with eight of their 13 boys making it into the top 16.
Hunter Lancour was the top qualifier for the day with games of 246, 216, 229 and 242 for a 933 series. He was followed closely by Delvaux with games of 238, 201, 235 and 246 for a 920 series.
Fellow teammates that also made the top 16 were: Shaun Beauchamp in 10th with an 803 series, Gaven Erickson in 11th with an 802 series, Jordan Nance in 13th with a 795 series, Tony Liss in 14th with a 790 series, Spencer Fennell in 15th with a 780 series and Matthew Cordy in 16th with a 777 series.
Escanaba finished with three bowlers in the semi-final round (top four) -- Lancour, Delvaux and Liss.
Delvaux defeated Liss 399 to 368 to advance to the final round, but Lancour lost his match to Doucette 384 to 477.
On the girls' side, the Eskymos had three bowlers make it into the top 16.
The girls were led by Mara Liss in 8th with games of 112, 171, 170 and 155 for a 608 series, followed by Adrina Busick in 10th with games of 133, 162, 197, and 112 for a 604 series and Abby Hill in 11th with games of 158, 143, 144, and 149 for a 594 series.
Liss and Busick fell in the first round of match play, but Hill advanced to the semi-final round only to fall to McKenna Trulock of Iron Mountain 311 to 367.
Trulock would go on to win the final round and claim the U.P. Girls Single Championship.
Escanaba will be hosting the U.P. Team Finals at the Bowl-A-Rama on March 13.
