Broncos’ grapplers win pair to move to 14-1

NEWBERRY — The Bark River-Harris wrestling team earned two wins Tuesday in a triangular meet against Onaway (69-12) and Newberry (77-3).

Bark River took on Onaway first in a rematch of last year’s regional competition. The Broncos started the scoring with a decision by Elliot Corrigan (119 pounds). BR-H then took a commanding lead with forfeit wins by Daniel Dani (125 pounds), Josh Riley (130 Pounds), Ethan Messersmith (135 pounds) and Melody Racicot (140 pounds).

Dillon Raab — who moved up a weight class — earned a pin for Bark River at 145 pounds.

Onaway’s Brendan Fenstermaker then earned a pin for Onaway.

Tyler Racicot (160 pounds) continued the scoring for the Broncos with a pin. Drew Allgeyer (171 pounds) was awarded a forfeit. Wyatt Raab (189 pounds) earned at pin 1:52 into his bout.

Onaway’s Gavin Green earned a pin 4:36 into the 215 pound bout.

Brenden Siedlecki was awarded a forfeit at 103 and Avry Corrigan closed out the scoring with a pin at 112 pounds, leaving a final score of 69-12 in favor of the Broncos. Alex Kern earned the pin for Bark River at heavyweight.

Against Newberry, the Broncos defeated the undermanned Indians by a score of 77-3.

Bark River was awarded forfeits to Alison Kleiman (103), Avry Corrigan (112), Katie Viau (119) Dillon Raab (140), Melody Racicot (145), Wyatt Raab (189), Jacob Wandahsega (215) and Alex Kern (heavyweight).

The Broncos earned pins by Josh Riley (130 pounds), Ethan Messersmith (135 pounds), Clayton Eichhorn (152 pounds) and Tyler Racicot (160 pounds).

Bark River also earned a tech fall by Drew Allgeyer at 171 pounds.

Newberry’s lone win was a decision by Travis Oneil at 125 pounds.
