Jets pour it on late in Norway win

NORWAY — A strong finish was enough to propel the North Central girls here Thursday night in a 58-42 basketball triumph over the Norway Knights.

The Jets led 40-36 after the third quarter before outscoring the Knights 18-6 in the fourth.

“We were in little bit of foul trouble in the third quarter,” said Jets’ coach Lee Vincent. “They’re a young team. We can’t take anybody lightly. We have to improve also. We need to work on boxing out.”

Andie Arsenault led North Central (5-3) with 25 points in this match-up of Skyline Central Conference teams. Jaiden Fleetwood added a season-high 14 points for the Jets, who sank 24-of-46 field goals and committed a season-low seven turnovers.

“We took care of the ball,” said Vincent. “Andie hit three 3-point shots in a row and that got us going in the fourth quarter. Jaiden also played heck of a game. She got down the floor quick and made some good moves on layups.”

Kassie Gyselinck paced the Knights (1-10) with 17 points.

North Central, which dropped the JV game, visits Superior Central tonight at 7:30 (EDT). Norway hosts Stephenson Tuesday.
